Ojas is a Sanskrit term used to describe the vital energy that is responsible for the optimal functioning of our body, mind, and spirit. When in abundance, our ojas energy supports our immunity, strength, and happiness.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is a mind-body practice that empowers individuals to advance towards improved health. It takes a whole-body approach to address and balance an individual's physical, mental, and emotional needs. Although all yoga can be therapeutic and healing in nature, yoga therapy differentiates by applying yogic tools - postures/exercises, meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, Ayurveda, and more - to provide personalized holistic care to address specific health conditions or manage wellness goals.

Pallavi's Story

Pallavi Kanumuru began her yoga journey to revitalize her well-being and regain balance. Witnessing the transformation it brought to her own life and fueled by her desire to share the love of the practice with others, Pallavi completed her teacher training courses at Shrimath Yoga in Bangalore, India and Three Sisters Yoga in New York City. Since then, Pallavi has continued to broaden her skills and has recently graduated from The Mindfulness Center in Rockville, Maryland with her Professional Yoga Therapist certification.

 

Drawing on her deep training in both western and eastern yoga practices, Pallavi has formulated her own style of teaching that combines traditional practices with modern learning. She currently instructs one-on-one sessions both in-person in the greater Washington, D.C. area and online. Her expertise lies in guiding her students to connect with their innate ability to heal and focuses on the whole student to allow each individual to explore their personal goals and intentions to their fullest capacity.

Teaching Approach

At Ojas Yoga Wellness, we believe that yoga is a powerful tool for healing and transformation. Our priority is to create a supportive and nurturing environment where every individual can explore their inner world and connect with their true nature. Pallavi understands that yoga is not a “one size fits all” practice and that each person’s unique path offers insight into their personal healing journey. When working together, her role is to be a guide in helping each student find the balance, healing, and well-being they are looking for. The process is fully led by the student, moving at their own pace, modifying practices based on their needs, and honoring how they feel at all times. The Ojas approach is centered around the principles of commitment, compassion, and self-awareness. By cultivating these qualities, we can create a healthy body, mind, and spirit to bring about a more harmonious life.
